I'm not sure where they'll be doing the next one. All I really heard is that Masterson's, the restaurant that they had handling the meals might be up for sale. So the new owners might not be up for the same arrangement, which could present a problem for providing a meal plan. There's a chance nothing will change, and it'll be the same place next year. I'm not sure if they would move it to a different city due to that or not, but I'm sure we'll find out soon.

Thanks for your reply. I've been kind of busy, but eventually I'll take a look at the Gentoo Tor's default torrc, and verify whether or not it was set up that way by default. (Thinking about it, there's a good chance this was my own error.)

I may consider just allowing exiting to 80 and 443, but for now I'm going to stick to running a middleman node (possibly two). These two can still be abused, of course, but the biggest issue is probably piracy via things like BitTorrent. I'll think about it more when I don't have a universitie's terms of service to worry about.

Tor should default to a safe configuration like middle or bridge. If there is any implementation of Tor that doesn't do this they should change it.

Trying to restrict file sharing by exit policy port is a losing battle; if you're concerned about any kind of DMCA/legal service you should try exit 80 and 443 at most until the risks are more known.

Go for it, you can always do your Java on Gentoo. I know what you mean about the time, though; it took a bit of work to get everything the way I want it. But it's nice, very fast.

Yeah, that problem was bothering me for a long time, glad you were able to get your's working too. It would have been nice if there were more documentation, but I guess it might not have been a very common problem.

I had the same problem with my Toshiba Tecra M1 after replacing the motherboard. Stuck at 598 Mhz. First I made the bootfloppy and with that floppy i made a bootable cd (i dont have a built-in floppy drive). After running my M1 is working great again! Thanks!
